Punjab Police was established in 1861. The Punjab Police is responsible for policing in Punjab. The mission of Punjab Police is the prevention and detection of crime, maintenance of law and order and the enforcement of the Constitution of India.

There are two training centres of Punjab Police - Police Recruits Training Centre Training Centre located at Jahan Khelan and Commando Training Centre located in Patiala.
